Academy of Science of Moldova

Academy of Science of Moldova (ASM) – is the highest forum of science in the whole country, it is a state institution having independent status and auto administration management.

   
The Academy's was established in 1946 when the Moldovan Base of scientific researches of the Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R. was created. The establishment of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova took place on August 2, 1961. At present, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova brings together 49 Full Members, 65 Corresponding Members and 29 Honorary Members where representatives of the main 3 sectors of Moldova's science are elected: academic sector - 49%, university sector - 29% and branch sector - 13%.      

 

ASM is scientific research institution and creative one. The fundamental and applied scientific researches cover the following fields: mathematics and informatics, theoretical physics, micro- and optoelectronics, geophysics and geologic processes, physical and technical processes in energetic, bioinorganic chemistry, ecological and analytical chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, theoretical chemistry, physiology and biochemistry, zoology, microbiology, botanic, geography, ecology, renewable and rational utilization of flora and fauna, stress’s physiology, genetics, medicine, history, linguistics and literature, philosophy, sociology, economy, politology, archaeology, ethnography, art, etc.
The Academy of Sciences of Moldova actively develops international relations and successfully integrates itself in the world scientific community. It collaborates with a number of important scientific organizations as INTAS, UNESCO, IAEA, NATO Scientific Committee, ALLEA and is a member of IAAS (International Association of Academies of Sciences) and ICSU.
